I began playing for DiamondZone when I was seven years old. I watched my sister play in the softball program, and I also wanted to play.
I was given the opportunity to try out for DiamondZone’s 10U baseball team. It was scary playing up with kids who were much older than me.
That first year, I had difficulty swinging my bat while up in the box. I started to see Coach JT for hitting lessons. In my first hitting lesson, I was very nervous, but everyone there talked with me and made me less nervous. Coach JT has pushed me to swing the bat more than I was, and now I hit so much better. He has a lot of patience with me, especially when I make a mistake. He does different drills with me so that I can get better.
Personally, playing for DiamondZone has helped me to focus not only on the field, but also in school. I have met a lot of my best friends by playing here.
One of the best things about DiamondZone is the coaches. They all have pushed me to pass my limit because they know I can be better. Each coach has different strengths, and I like that they all help us equally.
I have come a long way, but I know I have more improvement to be made!
