In Their Own Words: Miley N.

"DiamondZone has not only become my softball program, but my family."

I started playing softball in 2021; a year after COVID. I had just started going back to school and I needed something to do. My dad suggested trying out for my school’s softball team although it wasn’t really a team because we only had three girls. Ever since then I have been in love with the sport. I played rec league for a year until I got a text saying that DiamondZone was looking for catchers. I was reluctant at first, but I went to the tryout.

This is where I met Brett. He immediately saw potential in me and this drove me to get better. I started taking hitting lessons every week and then catching lessons. I was determined to improve and to continue to work hard. As the months went on, I started to really see improvement. My summer season went pretty well when it came to playing time, but catching performance was not what I was hoping for. I started to lose confidence, but with the amazing help of the DiamondZone staff and all the support they gave me I immediately gained it back.

DiamondZone has not only helped me with my confidence on the field but also off the field. I was so eager to learn that within a couple months the material Brett was teaching me had become second nature. The energy and supportive environment helps you feel more confident and also not afraid to make mistakes. If a mistake is ever made it is neither ignored nor pointed out in a negative way, but rather fixed. DiamondZone has not only become my softball program, but my family.
