A few years ago, I was looking for a new softball team/program and I chose to play for DiamondZone (DZ). I really wanted to play for an organization that would help me become a better player on and off the field and I felt that DZ was the best place for me to reach these goals. It was also important for me to play somewhere that would help improve all aspects of my game … hitting, fielding and pitching. Playing for DZ has helped me become a better all-around player and I have developed many great friendships over the past two years. I have very talented, athletic teammates and I have a lot of fun with them on and off the field.
Since joining DZ, I have grown as a player in ways I did not think were possible. Many programs can work on hitting and fielding but DZ has also helped me become a much better pitcher. I have gained more velocity and accuracy on the mound and I continue to learn new pitches. Another big difference at DZ is their focus on learning the mental aspects of the game. I have learned how to think about the game in a more strategic way which in turn has helped me realize which pitches to throw in different game situations. This approach has also helped me become a more consistent hitter and, as a result, I am much more confident at the plate.
I also believe I have developed as a person and have become a better teammate since joining DZ. I have always been very hard on myself and sometimes that got in the way of me improving as a player. Now, I have gotten better at taking constructive feedback from my coaches and have used it to improve my game. I have also learned that mistakes are going to happen and that I can learn from them … I just need to move on and make the next play.
I would like to thank Brett and Bri for all they have done to help me over the past two years. Brett pushes me hard to be the best player that I can be, and he has really helped me in the field and at the plate. All he wants for me is to be the best I can be. Having Bri as both my pitching instructor and head coach has been a huge benefit. She has changed my mechanics, taught me new pitches, and has helped me to understand how to ‘think’ my way through a game. It is also great to have her in the dugout during a game to make those small adjustments in my pitches and to encourage me in real time.
DZ is a great place to play softball, develop lots of new friends and have fun!
