I probably wouldn’t be playing softball today if it weren’t for DiamondZone. I first discovered DiamondZone when one of my teams used it as a winter practice facility. The following year, when I decided it was time to switch teams, I gave DiamondZone a shot. My private tryout there was the first time I received in-depth instruction on both my defensive and offensive mechanics. That’s when I knew this program was different—and that it was the right fit for me.
My first year was challenging. My mechanics weren’t as polished as some of my teammates’, and I struggled with limited playing time. But instead of letting frustration hold me back, I used it as fuel. The coaches gave me the guidance I needed, and I put in extra work outside of practice, focusing on every correction. That effort paid off. Since making the switch, my game has improved drastically.
Some of my best memories come from the moments I share with my teammates. Playing for DiamondZone feels like home, and the celebrations we have together make all the hard work worth it. Of course, there are personal victories—hitting my first out-of-the-park home run, throwing a runner out at home from the outfield, making a pick at first—but those moments wouldn’t mean as much without my teammates cheering me on.
What truly sets DiamondZone apart is the coaching staff. Every coach brings something unique to the field, but they all share the same passion for the game. Brett is tough and has high expectations, but he’s also incredibly patient with players who are focused and willing to put in the work. He has a way of breaking down mechanics that builds on each player’s strengths. His mix of seriousness and humor helps me move past mistakes without getting too frustrated, allowing me to make the necessary adjustments. Payton helped build my confidence when I was younger, always reminding me of my abilities and showing that she believed in me. This past season, Eryn and Jenna were my coaches, and they balanced each other out perfectly. They helped me see myself as a college-level player and guided me through the recruiting process by sharing their own experiences. They also empowered me to be more vocal on the field and embrace my role as a leader.
Because of this program, I’ve been incredibly lucky to learn from such an amazing coaching staff. Each one has played a role in shaping me as both an athlete and a person. I can’t imagine playing for a different travel program, and I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without DiamondZone.
